RIO-TINTO NURSURY has acquired the land in the year 1992 and developed it into a Nursery land for production of Agri-Horticultural plants since 1999. By this time of 3-4 years RIO-TINTO has set up an excellent Nursery for production of various fruits, flowers, ornamental herbs, shrubs and small trees, conifers and casuarinas, palm and cycads, ornamental & foilage plants and also marketing and trading in various kind of Agri-Horticultural plants from its own produces and also from the small farmers and nurseries all around this place in 24 Parganas (South). RIO-TINTO has also developed a suitable special type of Organic Manure for Coconut plantation and other plants. The unit has already focussed some Agri-Horti produces to be dealt in as major commercial items for plantation and trading from its own nursery and also to be procured from the farmers. (Please refer Annexure No.1).The main thrust of this unit is Agri-based Bio technological research, Mushroom culture, Psi-culture, Animal Husbandary, manufacturing of Organic Manure, Neem based pesticides & promotion of Medicinal plants etc. The commercial activities of RIO-TINTO are broadly divided into two parts. The first phase deals with Agri / Agri-Horticulture Plantation and sale of saplings as commercial crops, fruits and foliage, ornamental plants and seasonal flowers.The second phase deals with activities in psi-culture ( in three Tanks inside the projects), Duckery and to develop a Piggery unit in course of time.
